Badamwari, also known as Badam Vaer, is a historic garden located in the Shahr-e-Khaas (Old City) of Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. Situated at the foothills of Koh-e-Maran, it spans over 300 kanals and is renowned for its almond blossoms that herald the arrival of spring in the Kashmir Valley.

 Significance and History

The garden is believed to have existed even before the 14th century during the rule of Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin, though the exact date of its establishment remains unknown. A notable feature within the garden is a dome named after the Afghan ruler Warris Shah. In 2008, the garden was revived and formally opened to the public.

The blooming of almond trees in Badamwari not only marks the onset of spring but also coincides with Navreh, the Kashmiri New Year. On this occasion, locals, especially Kashmiri Pandits, gather in the garden for ceremonial picnics, celebrating renewal and hope.
