The Khanqah Naqshband Sahib, also known as Ziyarat Naqshband Sahab, is a revered Sufi shrine located in the Khwaja Bazar area of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

Historical Significance

Established in 1633 by Khwaja Khawand Mahmood Naqshbandi, a prominent Sufi saint and descendant of Baha-ud-Din Naqshband, the founder of the Naqshbandi order, the shrine was constructed using materials from an earlier structure. This act symbolized the continuity of spiritual legacy in the region. After Khwaja Khawand Mahmood's death in 1640, his son, Khwaja Moin-Ud-Din Naqshbandi, took over the custodianship of the shrine and continued its spiritual mission until his death in 1674, after which he was buried at the shrine.

The shrine holds historical importance as it was the first in Kashmir to house the sacred relic of Prophet Muhammad in 1699, before it was moved to the Hazratbal Shrine.

The Khanqah Naqshband Sahib is an exquisite example of Kashmiri wooden architecture, showcasing intricate craftsmanship:
